Talent Management is the process by which organisations ensure that they have the appropriate people, with the necessary skills and knowledge, at the right time, and in the right alignment to achieve corporate objectives.
Talent Management should be accompanied by an effective Career Management system, with Talent Management being a means of the organisation focusing the development of individuals to achieve oganisational goals. For example talent management may be aimed at specific level of the organisational hierarchy, specific professions or minority groups to encourage intensive development within these talent pools.
Talent Management strategy can take many forms. From specific Talent Management programmes that intensively develop groups through a managed process. Or organisation may decide to introduce a wider Talent Management framework which runs alongside the performance management framework, seeking to identify and monitor talented individuals throughout the organisation.
By taking an active role in employees career management an organisation can align over-reaching business requirements with the career aspirations of individuals.
