The AAT has recently introduced a revised CPD policy. Its new approach is output-based, and puts you in control of your own professional development.
If you are an AAT full or fellow member, you must undertake the CPD you need to remain competent for your current role. It is up to you to decide what you need to learn, and how to go about learning it.
The AAT’s policy is based on a four-stage CPD cycle, in which you:
You should complete the CPD cycle at least once a year, keeping a record of your activities and decisions at each stage.
Fellow members elected since 1 January 1998 should have been following the AAT’s revised CPD policy since the start of 2007. Other full and fellow members must use the new approach from 2008.
Alternative routes to compliance are available if you work for an accredited CPD employer or hold membership of an IFAC (International Federation of Accountants) full member body. There are additional requirements for AAT members in practice.
